Pictures taken with this lens look like those from a Jupiter-8. Very soft wide open and excellent stopped down. The example pictures were taken on a Micro Four Thirds camera.
Wide open pictures are soft and dreamy (example 1). Stopped down the lens really sings, the example with the power lines was taken around f/8. Pictures show pleasing pastel colors and flat contrast. These characteristics allow you to easily create vintage looking images. Lens was CLA'd by DAG a coupe years ago. Focus is a little stiff throughout the range but it is not jumpy - fine focus adjustments can be made smoothly and securely. Aperture ring moves freely and I don't see any oil on the blades. Note, there are no detents between stops. The barrel extends, locks, and collapses smoothly and securely. The lock is a little loose. It will usually stay securely in place during use but sometimes changing the aperture can move it a bit. Optics are clear of haze, fog, and fungus, and contain very little dust.
There are some bubbles within the glass. Optics show scratches, scuffs, and all kinds of marks. From the back of the lens you can see what I think is separation at the edges of the optics. In the last picture of the front optics, you can see some weird artifact under the "z" in Zeiss. Despite its flaws, this lens takes great pictures and has been a cherished part of my collection. It's hard to let go but I'm not shooting 35mm film anymore.
