50mm F1.1 Voigtlander Nokton Leica M-mount Lens w/ Vented Shade, Ready to Shoot! Offered here is a nice used 50mm F1.1 Voigtlander Nokton made in Japan by Cosina. The lens was introduced in Japan in 2009 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the modern Voigtlander Bessa rangefinder cameras. The specifications are as follows.

Aperture range is F1 to F16 with half stop clicks. Optical construction is 7 elements in 6 groups. The aperture has 10 blades and the minimum focus is 1 meter. The filter mount is on the front threads and is 58mm and this lens includes a vented lens hood.

It is 57.2mm in length and 69.6mm in diameter. It weighs 428 grams or 15.1 ounces. This individual lens show very minor wear in the finish on the barrel. The focus and aperture are buttery smooth.

The glass is bright and crystal clear with no marks, haze, fungus or anything else to interfere with the optical performance of the lens. The 50/1.1 is a good match for all Leica M mount cameras EXCEPT for cameras with a shorter rangefinder base such as the Leica / Minolta CL, Minolta CLE, and Voigtlander Bessa R4A / R4M -- unless you don't open the lens wider than f/2 shooting in the 3 to 8 foot range.

Short rangefinder base length cameras can't focus 50mm lenses accurately and consistently IF opened up wider than f/2. However you will usually be happy with the focus wide open at 1.1 on the same camera if your subject is 20 feet or further away.
