CANON 35MM f3.2 - L39 LTM MOUNT - VERY, VERY RARE! CANON 35MM f3.2 AND FINDER - L39 LTM MOUNT MINTY EAXMPLE IN ORIGINAL CASE! CIRCA 1950s - VERY, VERY RARE!

An amazingly desirable wide angle Canon rangefinder lens from the 1950s, offered in superb condition together with its original finder and case! An amazing lens this one, very very rare and offered in sublime condition, ready to go to work! It is of course well known, that Canon, began as an effort to create a Japanese camera equal to Leica and that the early Canon designs borrowed very heavily from the Germans. Although they began by using Nikkor lenses, Canon eventually started producing their own and by 1948, the relationship with Nikkor was terminated. This staggering little 1950s 35mm is thus one of the very first lenses offered by the Independent Canon company.

This is one of the very rarest lenses that I have come across and true to it's Leica roots, is a joy to use, I have had bigger, faster and much more complicated lenses, but when it comes to just simply taking your picture, this stunning lens does what only the very best do, it becomes your eye, the camera itself disappears and it gets you into your subject, rather than separating you from it. The 35mm 3.2 was only offered for a couple of years during the early 1950s and made in comparably small numbers, indeed, this is only the second that I have ever seen and the first to retain its original case and finder. Today it is sought after both for its rarity, and due to the resurgent interest from those photographers pairing these classic legacy lenses with Micro four thirds, Fuji X, Sony A7 and A9 and other compatible digital bodies, offering a perfect symbiosis of old and new! The digital renaissance of LTM lenses means that demand has never been higher and is rising rapidly, so now really is the time to bite the bullet and acquire one of these incredible lenses while you still can. In common with the best rangefinder lenses, the Canon's are sharp even wide open, although at their very sharpest stopped down a little. This is the sort of lens you wish they made today, it comes from a time when Canon was establishing itself and creating a world class product was more important than 0.1% on the bottom line. This particular example is in remarkable condition.

The only word for it is mint. I would guess it has spent most of it's life cosseted in a desk drawer or on a collector's shelf, cosmetically, it is in very close to new condition, construction is of chromed brass. While all markings are present and enjoy excellent contrast. Optics too, are in exceptional condition, with no sign of scratching, haze, fungus or oil at all. There is no dust visible when held up to the daylight.

Mechanically, the focus movement is nice and light, incredibly so for such a vintage lens, and features a lock at infinity, which functions perfectly. The aperture adjuster is a detented collar type which moves smoothly, opening and closing a tiny iris which forms the near circular aperture which gives the best quality rangefinder lenses their legendary Bokeh. Making this lens a particular rarity is that it comes complete with its original Canon 35mm finder, which is in similarly excellent condition, as is its original fitted case, which as you can see, is designed to hold both lens and finder side by side.

The lens will be supplied as pictured, ready to go to work immediately! So there you have it, a very rare opportunity to acquire a a unique full kit example of this truly seminal Canon lens in little used minty condition.
