Komura 80mm f1.8 mount Leica SM Lens (LTM / L39) Rare

  

This is a very rare and collectable Komura or Sankyo Koki Komura 80mm f1.8 in LTM / L39 Mount - Leica thread mount. Will fit straight onto Leica Screw mount cameras - or any M-Mount or modern camera with the right adapter. 80mm focal length for Leica Mount / LTM is incredibly rare - its either 75mm / 85mm or 90mm.

Lens is from around 1957 and is in incredible condition for its age. No haze / fungus / scratches. BUT as you would expect. HAS cleaning marks (its nearly 65 years old). Rangefinder focus is accurate and correctly calibrated.

Comes with Original 1957 lens case - but rear lens cap and lens hood are not original. Apart from the Voigtlander 75mm 1.8 or madly expensive 1.5 - there are few small Leica compatible rangefinder lenses with a 1.8 aperture. Its smaller and lighter than the Canon 85mm f2 and much rarer - also the 80mm frame lines matches the Leica 75mm lines much better. The 75mm Leica Hector would give you a similar look - but costs 3 times more. Be aware - at 80mm and f1.8 the depth of field us super shallow.....

You need to focus carefully - but the depth of field is super shallow. For portraits its very flattering. Note - 1957 lens is soft at F1.8. From F2.8 its sharpens up a lot and at F5.6 to f8 its really sharp. I have tried to include some sample photos as well as the lens to give you an idea of the look.
